I legit can't find the comic where that came from anymore.
It was just in ddg search results. I looked at my browser history and the link that the image originally went to probably won't help but it is:
I mean the snow cone one. Guy is selling snow cones (or cotton candy can't remember) and someone walks up and asks what they're made of. Vendor replies "cyanide and happiness." Guy says "happiness? Hot damn I'll take 4!"

This happened IRL with my friends when somebody decided to get the shittiest bum wine he could find to pass around the circle. We all did exactly this. Every single one of us. Ahh, those were the days.

They really are coated with a chemical to make them taste bad, to prevent children and toddlers from swallowing them

Now I'm curious
It's been a couple years, but I can remember it. Tasted awful. But not so awful that you thought you might die? Just generally unpleasant, and lingers on the tongue.
It's unpleasant enough to not enjoy, but not so unpleasant that I'm saying, "Don't do it!" Satisfying curiosity is a good motive. I don't regret it.

Don't tempt me with a good time
I don't know if it's the same chemical, but when I was little my mom coated the eraser on my pencils because I would chew on them. Pretty sure it didn't work then either, but I can still recall the taste.
