For some reason I get the weirdest looks then I say the best milkshake is peanut butter + chocolate + banana.

It's probably due to being my "struggle food" as a child but there is no better snack than just a blob of butter between two saltine crackers. It's heaven

[–] TotalFat@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

I've used saltines and butter as chips and dip before!

I actually got some saltines. How much butter to use?

[–] ZDL@ttrpg.network 1 points 4 days ago

I've done a curl of butter on a single saltine. It's really quite good.

[–] footox@lemmy.one 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Pasta (especially elbows) and ketchup

[–] NineMileTower@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Trailer park sketti

Bacon and water melon. Discovered by accident when I was late going on my offshore shift. I swung by the galley just to pick up something so I wouldn't run on fumes for the next 6 hours before breakfast. Upon entering the back deck, I stuffed it all in my mouth to free up my hands, and that's when I noticed the godly combination.

[–] DrBob@lemmy.ca 2 points 5 days ago

I've seen bacon and honeydew/cantaloupe at bruch things.

[–] Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 5 days ago

Pick up some Tajín at the grocery store and sprinkle it on your watermelon, if you want even more flavor!

[–] lvxferre@mander.xyz 1 points 5 days ago

I've seen plenty people eating ham with melons, so this combo doesn't look weird at all for me.

Mayo on Ramen. Kewpie mayo swirled over spicy Ramen broth.

[–] NineMileTower@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago (2 children)

That's not really uncommon, is it?

I searched it on Google and it's all over the place. There's a bunch of different recipes

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 2 points 5 days ago

I've lived in and visited Japan and it's definitely weird over there. I'm sure you can find it, though. They do like mayo. They even put it on pizza.

Dunno. My friends give me weird looks for it.

My grandfather taught me the sublime joy of fresh bread smeared with fresh butter, wild honey, and garlic powder.

Most people I told about that would start singing that old Sesame Street song: 🎶 three of these things belong together... 🎵 after giving me side-eye and realizing I wasn't joking.

[–] Jamablaya@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Why would they think that was weird, you can buy Honey Garlic by the jug.....and now I have to go google if Honey Garlic is a Canadian thing, I've never seen it down south it occurs to me.

[–] ZDL@ttrpg.network 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It looks like it's a thing now, likely an infection from the USA. But back then it was considered really weird.

[–] Jamablaya@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

Yeah so I did google it, honey garlic sauce is a Canadian thing, but western canadian.

Does eating meat with the bones count? Ever since I've had teeth I've loved eating bones. I remember telling my friend how good bones are and she looked at me like I had three eyes...

[–] Shadow@lemmy.ca 5 points 5 days ago

You mean the bone marrow? That's not really uncommon, I've had bone marrow on bread at restaurants.

If you're swallowing the cooked bone itself.... you're gonna die dude. Puncture an organ or something.

Half cola half orange juice, it's amazing

[–] matengor@lemmy.ml 5 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

We call it Spezi and Mezzo Mix in Germany. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spezi https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mezzo_Mix ( To be fair, it's with orange soda not orange juice )

[–] tiefling@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 5 days ago

I find coke too sweet so I mix half coke half seltzer. People always look at me funny for some reason

[–] lvxferre@mander.xyz 3 points 5 days ago (3 children)

I drink half cola half wine. People scream bloody murder at me. I don't care - it's awesome. (If trying it do it with cheap wine, it's a waste to do it with good wine.)

[–] Jamablaya@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

That's totally a thing, very similar to a Kalimoxto. some people add a bit of vodka too

[–] superkret@feddit.org 2 points 4 days ago

In Germany that's called Cola Red or Cola White depending on the wine. It's what we used to pre-game before Vodka Red bull existed.
In my area, Cola Red was called Korea for some reason.

[–] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 5 days ago

Pickles and peanut butter.

[–] Bldck@beehaw.org 2 points 5 days ago

Cheez-Its and Oreos was my go to salty sweet snack as a kid. Hits a little different now as an adult, but I still like it

[–] lvxferre@mander.xyz 2 points 5 days ago

Stop looking me weird when I eat banana with gorgonzola, folks! It's actually tasty.

Also, at least in my chunk of South America, people look at the eggs+pork combo as something outright gross, but I got to admit that I love some pork sausages with fried eggs.

[–] Hossenfeffer@feddit.uk 1 points 4 days ago

Triple fried egg sandwich with chilli sauce and chutney. It's state of the art. I found the recipe in a book on bacteriological warfare. It's like a cross between food and bowel surgery. It's well naughty.

[–] Truffle@lemmy.ml 1 points 4 days ago

Lime juice on pizza.

[–] superkret@feddit.org 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

a peanut butter and jelly and fried egg and bacon and maple syrup sandwich

[–] WrenFeathers@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

Oh come on……

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 1 points 4 days ago

At one point it was tinned macaroni cheese microwaved on a slice of white bread. I’m not really sure what was going on with me back then.

[–] weeeeum@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

Fresh mozzarella cut into 1cm slices, dipped in 4 year aged soysauce.

[–] Shaleesh@hexbear.net 1 points 5 days ago

Crispix/Corn Chex with hot sauce added to the milk. Its savory and spicy and creamy and nice.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Aside from my fellow Slavs: kielbasa and vinegar

[–] tiefling@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 5 days ago

Really not that different from kielbasa and sauerkraut

KFC and chocolate
