As the title says. I’m not doing bad, this seems like it may finally be stable-ish. I’m typing this with my braille display because I can actually use it on this platform unlike on reddit which is nice.

Nice! It’s great that you found a platform you can use. I love this platform as well and have been overusing it these past few days.

Same. Would be even better if we had an iOS / Mac app like Dystopia, but I'm sure that’ll happen eventually, and I'll take what I can get for the time being.

PS: just seeing if I can reply to comments without breaking the world. Keep getting language not allowed errors, and it's getting beyond frustrating. Hopefully if I manually select a language it will stop complaining. It seems to be very hit and miss as to weather or not it throws a fit, it didn't care when I was replying to a comment in my own thread, but my last couple attempts to reply to this comment haven't gone through at all. Hopefully it works now.

You have to select the language each time you post. If you're using Windows, you'll have to engage forms mode if you use JAWS or focus mode if you use NVDA, then open the combo box with alt+down arrow, select English, press enter, pop back into virtual PC cursor (JAWS) or browse mode (NVDA) and post. Hope this helps.

Umm that should not be the case, I never have to set mine, you need to set it in your account settings.

Yeah that seems to have fixed it on my end as well, touch wood.

My Braille display should be arriving any day now! Ordered it a couple weeks ago.

[–] noahcarver@rblind.com 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Nice. What display did you buy?

[–] fastfinge@rblind.com 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

One of the 20 cell orbit ones.

20 Plus like mine? That's the $800 one.

We need to add a dark outline for the text area input.

Hi, I’m VixenMiah, but these days I feel more like a crone than a vixen so I’ll just go by JustMiah or Miah. Doing okay, I’m able to work and am still picking up assistive tech. I got my PC working (although still get BSOD every so often) and tried looking for games on Steam after I got NVDA working. Still trying to find games but there is hope. The Lapp is also so much better for writing than my iPad is and I really want to get ambitious about a book I’m writing - so that’s a big help. We struggle on. I’m adapting but my vision is getting more and more truly fucked. Without I’m finding screens harder and harder to use and relying mostly on screen readers.

Yeah, never ask me how I’m doing unless you have time for like a cup of coffee.

Gotta say I do love screen readers. I talk to machines and computers all the time, and it is nice that they talk to me now. I feel like I’m on the Enterprise. Still looking for the perfect voice though…

Yeah I do not use my computer near enough and mainly just use my phone with either braille screen input or my display. I switch between a few voices but not often.
