After getting the Xiaomi BE7000, I started wondering whether it was such a good idea..

TL:DW Yes they are, regardless of what anyone says. They are also underperforming.

Some data is definitely collected especially if the router is made for mainland China.

Yeah that as well, wouldn't feel save with Chinese router, maybe there is software tracking VPNs or TOR nodes and something like taht 😬 rather pay the few bucks more for one that i can trust.

Well...the domestic routers also conduct in heavy data collection and some have technical backdoors, so I don't know.

Always get a router that you can install OpenWRT or OPNsense on.

Or stop mucking about with toys and use protectli running opnsense.

Eh im in Germany so i don't need to think about the shitshow happening in USA regarding that.

Isn’t Germany part of the 14 eyes?

[–] YourPrivatHater@ani.social 0 points 3 months ago

Yes but the vpn service i use is set in Switzerland and the German intelligence agencies aren't very effective, also the process to get a court order (wich they still need) to get my data is way to long for the stuff i do. Its not like its impossible but waaay more unlikely than when i put myself in danger by using a Chinese one and getting permanently harvested for data.

US routers are dangerous! The US has a history of backdooring routers. Do they really think this will cover it up?

Propaganda? Judging by the number of downvotes, I assume people didn't even bother watching a 5 minutes video. Set it on 2x speed.

My Chinese made BliKVM had a back door. One day I went into my bios and it was in Chinese! I immediately removed all the kvm, reflashed my bios, and kept that computer unplugged now.
