Wait, it was picked up in October and it's already finished‽
Yeah, they never actually stopped production, even after they were dropped by P+.
Oh, I didn't realise it was even originally going to be on P+. Thought it just never got a season 2 order.
S2 was ordered before all of S1 even aired.
Oh, nice!
Much of the work was done when it was initially canceled. Then finished after it got picked up.
Actually, we never stopped making the show. CBS Studios continued to finance the production while shopping the series, and Netflix quickly stepped in.
How about that. Nice to see at least some ongoing support despite it's being dropped. Good on you guys and hope it makes it to several more seasons!
Since you're here, Aaron (and of course a Trek writer would be on federated social media!), can you share anything about Prodigy's future past season 2? Hopes/wishes from the creative team? Initial signaling from Netflix re possibly continuing the show?
Netflix has the license to the show, just the same as any studio/network deal. If the first 40 episodes do well — and they absolutely can, especially with Trek fan support! - they can order more seasons.
We have plans for more, so spread the word and make sure to watch Season One within a month of it dropping on Netflix! That is good for us.
