I'm not sure of the state of the art, but I know there's been research into MEMS devices that can change the contour of a screen for at least 10 years. The concept I had heard were giving more tactile feedback on a phone screen by raising each of the keyboard letters, making it feel more realistic. Cool idea, I'd like to see what others have to add as well
