A place to discuss privacy and freedom in the digital world.
Privacy has become a very important issue in modern society, with companies and governments constantly abusing their power, more and more people are waking up to the importance of digital privacy.
In this community everyone is welcome to post links and discuss topics related to privacy.
Some Rules
- Posting a link to a website containing tracking isn't great, if contents of the website are behind a paywall maybe copy them into the post
- Don't promote proprietary software
- Try to keep things on topic
- If you have a question, please try searching for previous discussions, maybe it has already been answered
- Reposts are fine, but should have at least a couple of weeks in between so that the post can reach a new audience
- Be nice :)

More is not better. Also if you think Facebook, Meta or the zuck are good people, you haven't been paying attention.
It won't benefit us. Big Tech's goal ultimately is Embrace Extend Extinguish with...everything. That last E, "extinguish", can be substituted with "own" or "dominate".
Look at React. They created it. Now, look at VS Code. Made by Microsoft. VSC has telemetry built in.
These are now ubiquitous tools. They're so ubiquitous that knowing React is practically necessary if you want to do frontend. You may as well use VS Code while you're at it.
The implications of allowing them to have any influence or participation are huge.
Now tons of businesses rely on Meta's framework just to survive. They also dictate the terms - how it can be used, whether or not royalties are necessary, license compatibility, who you are allowed to compete against - the sky is the limit.
It all boils down to status quo.
