I'm using the above software by Sphinx Software, it's an active firewall noticing me on every event. It's ok but it's lagging my OS. Do you have any alternative you could suggest? Maybe an open-source one? (the WFC10 is a paid one btw)

Without testing and watching only the demo it seems they're both not "active" firewalls.
Since i "test" a lot of softwarez i need an active pop up at every first connection attempt... (sadly i'm stuck with Win for one single app not working on linux).

Have you tried Wireshark?
