I look at it like this. The Ghostbusters movie wasn't meant for kids, but kids liked it. Hell, kids liked RoboCop even when they really shouldn't have.

Barbie seems like it it's introducing kids to the kinds of ideas that movies of this age did. It isn't a sharp edge, but it is an edge.
