I like how all these posts are by people who have never lived under a socialist regime and have no idea what it really feels like (not great). Is it the West's fault that socialist nations repressed freedom of speech? And don't get me started on things like LBGT rights in the USSR.

Not saying there are no problems in the weat, but ya'll just a bunch of commie cosplayers.

And it sure as hell weren't "imperialist capitalist states" who sent tanks to Czechoslovakia and Hungary. Yet they're surpised they're called tankies with these stupid takes.

Ive been reading a lot of Russian history lately. The Bolsheviks basically swan dived into an opressive surveillance state right from the starting gun, loooong before any relations with america. The west didnt cause Stalin's purges and they had nothing to do with the Holodomor. People seriously suffered under communism, its genuinely atrocious.

You can't say there isn't anything to it. But for sure I agree it isn't the whole story.

America has freedom of owning the speech. They almost got it right. :p

The fact you can cosplay as Che Guevara on lemmy shows your speech is not being repressed by corporations or anyone else. You seriously have no concept of how restricted speech was in the Soviet Union or other communist countries.

No not a real concept, thank god. Got lucky to be born in northern Europe. Seems to be one of the best spots on the planet.
