Good. Many of these "athletes" served in the israeli occupation forces and will have participated in human rights abuses against Palestinians which have now become completely normalized in that society.
Israel should not be participating in these games It is a stain on the Olympics.
The Olympics were literally held in Nazi Germany, they have no respectability to stain...
Why "athletes" in scare quotes?
The only reason Russia isn't directly participating in the games is their athletes are dopers. You think otherwise Russia is a stand-up country? Yet their "athletes" (?) are there.
"Good"? I've seen some really strange takes here, but this is wild. I'm pretty sure Israel has compulsory service for nearly all citizens, so serving in the IDF isn't exactly a choice they would have necessarily made willingly. To suggest that they deserve to be doxxed for something they had no say in is absurd.
Point your anger at the right people.
Big "I was just following orders" energy here.
What did the athlete even do, then?
So they should have refused and taken the punishment? That I'm sure you know what it is, since you seem so well informed.
Fuck that. They have an international platform to say something against the ongoing genocide and are instead supporting it by participating under the Israeli flag.
So we should dox the athletes for it? Seriously?
Yes. They are supporting genocide. And it's not even "silence is compliance" but they're literally 'advertising' their country during a genocide. And yes I know that the Olympics is an extremely big and important thing for athletes, but that's exactly why you have the option to compete without representing a nation.
And what do you think doxxing the athletes accomplishes, exactly? What good do you think comes of it? What purpose does it serve?
Exactly!!! If we're already assuming they served in the military, why do we need any more information than their name? What is the end goal of the dox?
I believe the end goal is to cause conversations like the above.
For the stupid people like me, what is the conversations they are trying to have. All I see is someone advocating they since they are Israeli they should be doxxed for being so.
For them I don't think it matters. I think the whole goal is to have further awareness and having people burning time on it like we're doing right now brings more awareness to the issue regardless what side you're on. They believe their side is just so that it will win out in general and bringing further awareness and making people think about it can only be a good thing.
Tl;Dr: awareness.
You're not stupid; that's exactly what they're doing.
I'm not though? They're Israelis that have the platform to speak out against the genocide and are not doing so, but instead are 'advertising' for their country.
Do you honestly think they're allowed to do something like that?
Probably not, however depending on how they phrase it I doubt there would be extreme consequences and even then, there have been countless examples of athletes refusing to return to their home countries and instead staying in the host countries.
I haven't looked at the dox, but if they have apartments/properties outside of Israel, it'll lead to some good ol' vandalism. With addresses inside Israel it's most likely gonna be harassment in the form of letters and packages. Same goes for phone numbers and email addresses.
Essentially, make their lives as uncomfortable as possible. And because they know they've been doxed, it's unlikely to lead to physical violence, because I doubt they're stupid enough to stay at (now publicly known) addresses outside of Israel.
Huh, so you're a supporter of forcing people out of their homes when they've committed no crime other than have the misfortune of being born in the wrong country? Where have I seen this one before...
Reading comprehension just isn't your thing is it?
I literally said it's about them advertising their country and not speaking out despite having the platform. It has nothing to do with where they're born.
So you still support forcing people out of their homes, though? Cool, nice chatting with you, Bibi.
Oh no, a German calling all the Jews criminals indiscriminately and calling for extreme lawless measures against "that nation of criminals". That is such a fresh take.
Dunno... Genocide, or decorum. It's a toughie
