Summary

Two Panamanian lawyers have filed a lawsuit with the supreme court seeking to cancel a Hong Kong-based company's contract to operate two ports at the Panama Canal, arguing it is unconstitutional.

The case follows U.S. pressure on Panama to curb Chinese influence, with Senator Marco Rubio urging President José Raúl Mulino to act. Trump has also called for reclaiming the canal.

If revoked, Panama risks international arbitration.

Mulino has already agreed to restrict migration, exit China’s Belt and Road Initiative, and reportedly allow U.S. military vessels free transit.

Trump is such an embarassment.

sounds reasonable to look over port contracts signed with undemocratic states

The US is also an "undemocratic state"

yes, it is looking close to that. It is also unreasonable for the US to be pressuring Panama like this, but that's international relations, and the outcome is acceptable
