what does it matter whether it's not korea. what matters is, if it's good. there is lot of good kpop and ppl around the world enjoy it. isn't the idea of broadcast to hear new or exotic things? otherwise, you could just listen to your own music collection over and over.

well the main thing is its a local broadcast. They don't have a segment where they showcase a singer. It just came out of no where. So its not regional and its not from some hot genre for the area. What you said might make sense if it was a national broadcast maybe but again you would think it would be part of an ongoing segment.

How dare someone expose you to a new culture.

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com -3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

again its not like they have a segment doing songs from various cultures. at a guess its easy to pay them to showcase something because local is going to be much cheaper than national and we are a large enough metro you will get neo national exposure.

TV channels show what people pay them to? Thats news! surprised pikachu

fox made it sound like an athlete was going to some midwestern state. they even had the flight path map showing and the destination was supposed to be a hospital for care but it was a little girl who had just gotten care going back to mexico.

I think you're replying to the wrong comment there...

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

granted long comments get confusing in formatting with mbin but it seemed like mine was responded by you with huh so I felt you were asking for explanation.

[–] spongebue@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

You seemed to be describing the Philadelphia plane crash that happened yesterday. I wrote that "huh?" a week ago.

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

ok yeah sorry about that. Im not sure how my notifications seemed to get me here it may have been something more recent here and somehow I thought it was the huh and then thought it was the more recent thing. I guess this will make a funny little nook in the fediverse.

[–] spongebue@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

I was thinking the same 🤣

“It’s not Korea”

Not relevant. Are we not supposed to enjoy international media? It’d be a pretty boring world without any cultural exchange.

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com -5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Boy Im writing this a lot but again its not like its a regular segment about foreign media and its a local broadcast.

[–] tomi000@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

So the singers need to be from your town? How local is local enough? I think you have a very specific arbitrary border in mind.

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

yeah sorta. or at least be having a show locally somewhere. they don't just have random acts spotlighted for no reason as its a news program.

[–] tomi000@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Youre saying if it was Taylor Swift you wouldve made the same post? Hard doubt, but only you would know.

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I would. Again if she were playing some place there is some presidence. If it were not the news and some show on the schedule. thats fine to. this wierd thing out of the blue for no reason. yeah. same post.

[–] tomi000@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I guess the absurdity of the situation doesnt come across just through the post and it sounded like the KPop was the part that upset you.

well I mean if it was like jethro tull it probably would not have annoyed me but it likely have annoyed a whole bunch of the rest of the metropolitan area.

Dang I really hope culture stays on its side of the fence. Wouldn't want to expose anyone to new concepts or something that wasn't home grown.
