tl;dr:

Scott suggests laundering towels once a week. However, this recommendation is not a set rule.

"It doesn't make a whole lot of sense because if someone is sick, they've got vomiting and diarrhoea," she says. "They need to have their own towel and those towels need to be laundered on a daily basis. That's what we call targeted hygiene, you deal with the risk as it occurs."

That's it. I'm burning every towel I own.

First thing I thought of too. This article seems like Schmidt propaganda.

weve always washed them after 1 use, with bleach. its crazy to me to think people reuse them.

Hrm. This would double the amount of laundry every week, but I might start doing the same. Do you do the same with hand towels? Because between cooking and doing dishes and washing hands when using the bathroom, that’d be a skyrocket degree of washing. That seems like too much water usage to me.

kitchen/bathroom handtowels are daily thing (assuming they get used). and yep, with house full of people thats a load or 2 per day all the time. i dont really give a shit about water use.

showering towels yeah but hand drying towels when they seem to need it.

It seems like some folks have a lot more towels than I do.

They recommend washing once a week? That's gross.

Every morning I replace the hanging bathroom towel. And no towel is reused for showering.

I prefer to wash the bath towel after 1 use but my fucking landlord raised the price of a wash and dry by $1 each so I guess ideal hygiene is the newest addition to the "rich people only luxuries" list

oh also the dryer is locked to low heat and doesn't even get towels fully dry
(ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻

and yes I checked to see if I could access maintainence mode on the washer via key combo... no luck :[

Are towels supposed to bend?

[–] cone_zombie@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 week ago

I just tried mine and yes, they do bend a little if I apply enough pressure
