I havent gone swimming in around a decade, and now that I'm a little over a year post up I really want to but I'm still so nervous to actually go and buy a swimsuit. 😅 there's something intimidating or nerve wracking about the process.

Anyone have experiences buying swimsuits? Is there any tips going in I should know? I think I know what style I want, a 2 piece with high waisted bottoms and a top with an underwire.

If you are able to go with someone else there is safety in numbers. Not just from the general public but from your own mind. Buying a swimsuit can easily overwhelm your sense of self worth so having someone who is championing for you is invaluable.

As for style, whatever you feel cute in. Nothing looks better than confidence in what you’re wearing.

Love that advice! The first few times I went bra shopping, I had a friend tag along with me, and honestly, I still do sometimes. I can see how with swimsuits, sizing and aesthetics and styles could put a lot of critical emphasis on your body. I think bringing one of my friends along with me would help a lot. :)

And I can totally see what you mean. It's kinda nerve wracking considering wearing something where so much skin is visible for the first time. I'm trying to keep the confidence I feel in my everyday clothes going haha but that little voice in my head is worrying about my cellulite and my tummy 🙃 I was thinking high waisted would look very cute on me (I look amazing in high waisted shorts and skirts) and I was determined to wear a 2 piece so haha. Might consider adding a sheer beach cover-up? I've seen some pretty cute ones.

Also, how do you manage your hair at the beach? I have very long hair and have been trying to think how best to manage it when swimming.

Take my advice with a grain of salt, I have a very polarizing style or so I’ve been told but fuck the haters.

If you are able to get two, something you feel cute in and something you feel conservative/comfortable in. There’s no shame in getting to where you are going and feeling over exposed and having the option to change into something with a little more shielding so to speak is a life saver. Conversely you might not have been feeling that confident when you left but once you arrive you get that surge and you have the option of feeling cuter, options are never a bad a thing. A cover up is amazing, either a waist down or shoulders down are great to have.

Plan on getting your hair wet if you’re going in the water, unless you get a swimming cap but they aren’t very flattering. As for how to manage it, the tightest bun you know and like. Tightest at the top of your head (the crown) and looser as your work your way to the base (the nape). There’s great tutorials on YouTube but I’m on a very stringent boycott so someone else will have input on that.

I love the bring 2 suits idea. Never thought of that but that sounds great so you don't feel stuck with what you're wearing! I think probably will get a cover-up of some kind too :)

And yeaaaaa swimming cap is definitely a no for me 😂 I put way too much time into my hair to just cover it anyway lol. I'm so bad at putting my hair up so yeah I'll have to peak around for some tutorials, thanks for the recommendation 😊
