You know what, for the time being at least, lemmy sucks real bad, I have a community which I was posting almost everyday, it reached 170 followers and after five days without posting anything, because nobody else cares to do it! now the page has 116 followers and I guess the number will decrease more, which means lemmy is full of bots and toxic dumb users who want to do nothing other than sit on their ass and wait for one mod to provide them with content.

For the very few that try to be different I m really sry!

RFF was a community building victory but in a space that is paradoxically much too wing clipped by a lack of diversity in platforms, an abundance of dramatic fragmentation with poor or intentionally no tools for artists to navigate such waves, whilst simultaneously enduring clout and corpo invasions. A landscape hard to sustain the labour and connections to radiate the vibes and build the connections we deserve.

Perhaps after a pause away from the exhaustion and negativity of the general fedi and maintaining a community project, there may be some space for legacy resources. That ain't now.

I really liked listening to this radio, especially at work. If you have radio suggestions that are in the same style, that is to say out of the ordinary, they will be welcome! All musical styles are okay for me, don't hesitate to share.

When I see "the FDA has stated..." I automatically think it is probably a corrupt conclusion bought by some powerplayer to maximize their own profit instead of having to do with whether the statement is true or not. I've always viewed FDA as basically a council of a bunch of power players on boards of Big Capitalism companies like Pepsi that make decisions based on control and market share rather than health.

but I see posts now about how trump attacking FDA equals bad. So is my view of FDA wrong? Are they noncorrupt? Are they a necessary evil? Should they be thrown in a volcano and remade?

I bought some hockey sticks recently. Free shipping over $300. UPS made me pay $50 on delivery for "Duties or taxes are due on this package." The seller did not list the potential expenses outside of what was paid, and said they have no control over this.

Has anyone else run into this (with anything)?

I have never paid duties as a direct fee for anything not purchased in an airport. Shipping was Canada to U.S.

I have ADHD, and take adderall XR for it. However, for the past almost month, I have been without it because my pharmacy has a shortage of it. At first, I didn’t experience immediate problems except for increased appetite and maybe a few other minor issues but for the past week, i have developed anxiety and worry about things more strongly than I typically do. Is this normal? And based on your experience, does adderall “decrease” anxiety?

How much of the data do you think is collected, kept, and used long term? i.e. what proportion and amount

I always forget we are creatures of habit till that moment hits. I have a relative who is a woodworker, but the reality is they just love collecting wood because they worked at a sawmill as a teenager and talking about wood was all his peers did. I also have a friend who wears the same cologne since childhood because a crush once complimented them on it.

I suppose always being the "good friend" (in their parents eyes) made me more sociable, so now I avoid "events" because I just feel like it's a game and I don't want my interactions with other people to feel that way (love small gatherings with a purpose though, the Amish got it right with the barn raising).

What are some that you've experienced personally or through someone close to you?

I've become the tech guy, and family are extremely entitled to my services. My mom especially. BTW I can't cut her out, because I still live with her and she EXPECTS me to fix anything computer related. She won't take no for an answer.

I've tried to keep track of her passwords with a password manager, I've spent literally 8 hours in a single day filling out captchas and replacing passwords, and I've spent even more time trying to teach my mom how to use the manager.

She CAN'T learn it, and always makes a new password, which she doesnt keep track of and expects me to fix it. What the hell do it do? She uses firefox, with auto refill on, but it doesn't autofill on her iphone.

I don't have a good outlook on psychology as a field. It's all influenced by people for leverage and different countries can't even agree on what qualifies as what (e.g. the definition for social anxiety in one country could be considered the definition for agoraphobia in another). But I think watching Simon Whistler give a very debunked rundown on psychology ten years into his career was the last straw for me this week. Misrepresenting psychology has very annoying implications and it gets tiring to see it done over and over.

To use one example, he mentions the former Axis Power officers in WWII saying they were "just following orders", which led to the highly rigged Stanford Prison Experiment, which has never been able to be replicated with the same results. Why? They rigged it, some say to support those officers. Here is an instance where history clashes with psychology, because near the end of WWII, German officers started recruiting and enslaving the Jews they were capturing to do the very dirty work they previously inflicted on them. Did these poor souls succumb to the wickedness like the Stanford Prison Experiment and the officers who inspired it would suggest in court? No, they were traumatized and went insane, because this was not in their nature.

Modern psychology is littered with these false rules and expectations. I'm sure many of you have heard a number of them. Maybe you remember the Milgram Experiment or Stockholm Syndrome for example. So let's play a game. Look back into your life. Think of all the things you've experienced and how it all played out. Out of all these experiences, which ones can you talk about that you can point to and say "if conventional psychology was right, this event in my life would've never happened how it did?

Example: There is a rule in the field of psychology called the Prisoner's Dilemma. It says that if you question two people a certain way, they will be incentivized to spill beans and betray each other. Me and a friend were once arrested because he got into a fight because someone cheated on his sister and I sped him away. The officers tried inflicting the Prisoner's Dilemma on us, but we're both open books, to the point where we knew the whole point was we were willing to face whatever comes. The cops had nothing. They let us free.

Given how AI is already polluting the water of literary works, I'm likely never going to read a new book for quite some time, but will just pursue books before 2010.
