While law enforcement does not believe Thompson's killing is part of a trend targeting health executives, the attack underscores the vulnerability of these high-profile executives.

As a trans person in the US this sentence makes me want to scream. Can’t imagine what it must be like to be vulnerable to being murdered πŸ™„

School children throughout the US being told that gun violence is β€œa fact of life” are also deeply unimpressed by this statement from the cops

That sentence is infuriating to everyone.

Speaking of that, any news on the snitch yet?

[–] Pilferjinx@lemmy.world 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Hope they don't get hurt. If they do, I hope their insurance doesn't deny them care.

they are already denied the reward of snitching LOL

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Figures. Let that be a lesson to everyone. They will always do everything possible to not actually pay out reward money. They are greedy liars, and will behave as such in all of their dealings.

Source? I could use a good laugh.

https://www.unilad.com/news/us-news/luigi-mangione-ceo-shooting-mcdonalds-worker-reward-333982-20241210

it seems because the reward would not cover tips made through 911 because they are stingy like that and have a bunch of rules tied to the reward.

Oh, that's brilliant. Thank you

This bulletin perfectly exemplifies everything wrong with the status quo. The cops are basically saying "We're aware that everyone hates these rich fucks, so the rich fucks should barricade themselves behind additional layers of security & continue their evil and destructive pursuit of profit. The police will hurt anyone who tries to hurt the wealthy.". How about evaluating why the entire country is outraged? Oh, because you already know why, and just don't care.

Well, not with that attitude.

[–] Mango@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

At what point in time does a first count as part of a trend?

β€œβ€¦ the attack shows they bleed just like poor people…”

Oink oink goes the piggy

[–] Mango@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

law enforcement is on high alert as calls for threats against health care executives and their families become "widespread,"

Last I checked it was only the executive in question who became "widespread" if people are threatening families that's kinda fucked up but this just reads like pigs embellishing.
