Yelp can't be trusted, anyway. Businesses can pay to remove bad reviews.

Google Maps has plenty of user submitted photos.

The news isn't known for getting details correct. I guess it could have been a tiki torch, or an Olympic torch, though.

I've known 95 year olds who are very active in whatever they hold dear to their hearts.

It sure is pretty.

Can I shop at HD again, or are the people in charge still assholes?

[–] walden 5 points 2 weeks ago (9 children)

It depends. Blow torches are odorless unless the canister is leaking. Flare guns don't smell like anything unless they've been recently discharged, and even then it's probably not a strong odor.

I used to have a crusty old sample that someone sent me during my first Lather Games. It's pink, right?

This looks like a New England forest.

[–] walden 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

No that's ok. I saw it last night and was too tired to think about it!

This tub was free from Ben, so it's a perfect winner.

Is yours a 2-piece handle? I got the same kind of razor from Vis.

Another fine shave with Speick. Good stuff, although I find that you need to use sort of a lot of product.

This pan was difficult to get completely stripped, but I prevailed in the end. I used Easy-Off, and it took multiple tries to get the stubborn stuff off. This is while applying the first coat of shortening to the bare iron. I tested both pans for lead, even though I've been using them both for a number of years. Thankfully, they tested negative.

The pan on the left has 4 coats of seasoning. The pan on the right has one. I wanted to season them together, but the pan on the right took a long time to strip so it fell behind.

Both pans are in the oven as I write this, getting their 6th and 3rd coats, respectively. I don't have a goal in mind, but I'll stop when the bigger pan looks good.

I have a Griswold #8 that had some areas where the seasoning was failing. I don't remember what I seasoned it with, but it was about 5 years ago so it didn't last long. I blame my wife.

Anyway, I decided to strip and re-season. I used the Easy-Off method -- spray it down and let it sit in a garbage bag. This worked well except for some stubborn spots. I re-sprayed multiple times but the oven cleaner didn't seem to work.

I was going to keep chipping away at it with oven cleaner, but my can ran out so I went to the hardware store. Looking at the ingredients in oven cleaner, I realized that maybe drain cleaner would also work.

I got a big bottle of drain cleaner and headed home. I made sure to get basic (Sodium hydroxide) drain cleaner instead of acid, and got "gel" style so it would stick to the sides of the pan better.

It didn't work. I don't recommend trying it because it's a waste of time. Oven cleaner must have a bunch of other stuff in it, not just lye.

So, I'm going to head back to the store and get more oven cleaner. It's so close to being fully stripped, I'm sure I can finish it off with oven cleaner.

In the past I've used electrolysis, self-cleaning oven method, and oven cleaner. Oven cleaner is my preferred method, even after struggling with a few spots this time.

I was going to try and finish this pan off with the self-cleaning oven method, but the latch on my oven door is broken, so it won't perform the cycle.

Anyway, thanks for reading! I don't have any pictures, but I will take some once I start the seasoning process.

  • You'll have to log back in
  • You might have to clear the cache for your phone app
  • If you want to use 2FA (yay 2FA), you'll have to re-enable it

yet another Update

It seems like 0.19.0 breaks federation with other instances. Federation is arguably the most important part of Lemmy, allowing users from other instances to post, comment, vote, etc. on our instance. Until that's figured out, we'll probably hold off on updating.

Until then, this post still serves as a sort of educational one: mainly to familiarize anyone who reads this with the fact that you'll be logged out and will likely have to clear your app cache if you use one.

In case you missed it over at !ws_server_announce@sub.wetshaving.social, the Lemmy developers have released v0.19.0.

TL;DR: We haven't updated yet. Make sure you have the latest version of your favorite mobile app. When we update you'll be logged out.

This instance has not been updated yet, because we want to give you a little bit of a heads up.

There are a lot of changes, most notably having to do with logging in:

A normal user will notice one or two things:

  • You'll be logged out in your browser.
  • You'll be logged out of your app.
  • If you have 2FA (2-Factor Authentication) set up, it'll be disabled and you'll have to set it up again.

There are lots of little changes which you can read about here if you're interested. Overall the update has been very well received by other instances!

Another concern we had was with mobile apps. Unless they've been updated, they won't work with v0.19.0. At this point it seems like all of the available apps have been updated, so make sure you have the latest version installed on your phone.

We plan on updating soon™ and will make another post giving a heads up when the time comes.

Thanks for being part of this great community and sharing your joy for dope shaves!

Release 7.13 2023-12-15

Notice - Starting from RouterOS version 7.13, significant changes have been made to the RouterOS wireless packages. This is done due to a new product developemnt which will require more disk space for hardware drivers so we had to split it in order to maintain old products alongside the new ones. More wireless packages are yet to come.

  1. When upgrading by using "check-for-updates", all versions earlier than 7.12 will display 7.12 as the latest available version. Upgrade from v7.12 to v7.13 or later versions must be done through 7.12 in order to convert wireless packages automatically. Fresh installation with Netinstall or manual package installation works in the same manner as always.

  2. Drivers for older wireless and 60GHz interfaces, as well as the wireless management system CAPsMAN, are now part of a separate "wireless" package instead of being a part of the bundle package. This package can be uninstalled if not needed.

  3. The existing "wifiwave2" package has been divided into distinct packages: "wifi-qcom" and "wifi-qcom-ac", and the necessary utilities for WiFi management are now included in the RouterOS bundle. RouterOS and "wifi-qcom-ac" packages alongside each other now fit into 16MB flash memory.
