I use ZFS but you need to be very aware of its problems

Learn zpool

Use Signal or Simplex.

Signal does require a phone number. However, as long as you understand what that means you are fine.

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 3 points 18 hours ago

Doesn't it require JavaScript?

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 16 points 18 hours ago

You are kind of wrong in two ways. First Doxxing is where you reveal someone's information to the public without there consent. Usually this is done to get members of the public to harass or harm the victim in some way.

The second part of where you are wrong is the use of the term PII. PII is does not include active surveillance. It is things like your birth date, SSN and records.

The good news is that I have noticed a lot of people saying this. I think even the least tech savvy are starting to wake up.

I hope this goes without saying but please do not run this on machines you don't own.

The good news:

  • the exploit seems to require user action

The bad news:

  • Device Firewalls are ineffective against this

  • if someone created a malicious printer on a local network like a library they could create serious issues

  • it is hard to patch without breaking printing

  • it is very easy to create printers that look legit

  • even if you don't hit print the cups user agent can reveal lots of information. This may be blocked at the Firewall

TLDR: you should be careful hitting print

I haven't heard anything in months. Maybe there is legal trouble?

SS7 is vulnerable to attack. However, the types off attacks on the video don't affect Signal as it requires a pin. (Make sure you set your pin to something strong and secure)

I am a certified Linux user with almost 10 years of experience.

Please run the following command in a terminal:

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y

Let me know if this fixes your issue

(I'm making fun of the 25 year Microsoft veterans on the support page that tell users to run SFC /scannow)

I have been using kodi but it just so limited and clunky. Android TV is better but that is a major challenge since Android TV is very tied to Google with not much existing outside of Google.

What I am looking for is a device that can work with mostly Jellyfin. I don't use any streaming services. It would need to work flawlessly with a remote and I am looking for something that maintains itself mostly.
