What would an r/place-like Fediverse event look like? (lemmy.world)
 

I know this has crossed the minds of more than a few people here over the past several days.

What would that event look like? A new platform that implements ActivityPub and attempts to federate somehow? A completely separate site (à la pxls.space) related only in spirit? Something in between?

Further, how do you think it would play out, given the difference in our userbase and Reddit's?

It is crazy to me how much the lemmy experience has improved since joining here from Reddit a few weeks ago. in c/lemmy@lemmy.ml

.world's 40% growth on July 1 blew me away. Really convinced me this place will be the next Reddit in time, in the way we used to know Reddit.

The fact the user experience has gotten smoother and more responsive on top of that is just insane. Huge props to the .world team.
