2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

Much of today's shave comes courtesy of u/VisceralWatch. At different times, he has gifted me the soap, the razor and a tuck of these razor blades. Thank you sir!

The scent on C&C is a deep, rich coffee with a touch of cream in it that gives off a hint of unsweetened chocolate. I love it, and it pairs very well with Leviathan; but, then, really, what doesn't. Great soap base (thanks SBS), and great scent.

I have a small but reasonable vintage DE collection. Not really a bad razor in it, but the English Flat Bottomed Tech always surprises me with how comfortable and natural it feels in-hand. It's this, and whinging about the weather, that make me an anglophile.

Anglophile is a new word for me. I also tend to enjoy English things. Some of my favorite bands and TV shows are British.

That's true for me as well.

Barrbarrian Shave

  • Brush: Dogwood Handcrafts Papa Eld with Declaration Grooming B3 knot
  • Razor: Merkur Futur
  • Blade: Derby Premium
  • Lather: Noble Otter Barrbarr
  • Aftershave: Noble Otter Barrbarr
  • Fragrance: Spearhead Shaving Company Seaforth! 3 Scots
  • Talc: Pinaud Clubman Finest Powder

"The Futur[โ€ฆ] is is not as loud as War, but it is relentless. It has a terrible fury all its own." - Lauren Beukes

As @timbuktu@sueden.social mentioned, this razor is loud, and it's also a great shave.

Barrbarr is a confusing scent for me, because I'm convinced it has a strong cinnamon note. That note is a figment of my imagination according to the authority. Either way, I love that fictitious cinnamon note in there and works well with 3 Scots.

Love the quote! I know it is very well liked, but I've passed on Barrbarr in favor of other NO scents. I find myself reaching for TNeV and Firefighter a lot these days.

Love the quote!

It was shockingly fitting ๐Ÿ˜…

TNeV and FF are fantastic scents. If I had to choose, I'd choose them over Barrbarr, too.

SOTD 28.01.2024

  • Prep: warm water
  • Razor: RazoRock Gamechanger 0.84 OC; Wilkinson Eco disposable
  • Blade: BIC Chrome Platinum; disposable
  • Brush: RazoRock Beehive 28 mm
  • Lather: Declaration Grooming - Unscented soap
  • Post Shave: Thayers Cucumber facial mist; Natura Siberica ASB gel
  • Fragrance: Bentley for Men Intense EdP

Late AF experimental head shave. I wanted to test how nicely the disposable razors from recycled materials work for head shaving, I actually got them for travel and body shaving.

First pass WTG with the Gamechanger, smooth as usual with a fresh BIC. Second ATG with the disposable... It wasn't bad, but not really exceptional either. I guess I'll always prefer safety razors, but for short trips it's a good travel option that wouldn't hurt to lose.

Notino now stocks Thayers, a great thing for me. The facial mist also works great for applying it on the dome.

The other thing I got was this Bentley EdP. It's a nice masculine fragrance, slightly similar to Bay Rum but a bit more suited for everyday wear. It's definitely different than the usual mainstream scents of Sauvage, 1 Million and Le Male and I totally appreciate it for that. Not a sillage bomb or performance beast, but nice for work or everyday activities.

  • Brush: Every Ready 400 w/30mm Motherload
  • Razor: Blackland Era - Level 3 SB
  • Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (4)
  • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - Port-Au-Prince - Soap
  • Post Shave: Aqua Velva - Ice Blue - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: House of Mammoth - Mood Indigo - Balm
  • Post Shave: House of Mammoth/Declaration Grooming - Cerberus - Liniment
  • Fragrance: Cross/Cut - Warm Woods - EdT

Port-Au-Prince typically gives me slight frag burn (likely the Lemongrass, which is a common irritant), but today it wasn't a problem. Maybe it was the very soft brush, or the rainy weather, or who knows what.

Nice shave as per usual with the Era.
