I'm tired today, and felt it more prudent to use a DE. I nevertheless managed to nick myself in the upper lip.

Have a good day!

I’m tired today, and felt it more prudent to use a DE.

And chose the least prudent DE in your arsenal 😅

The quality of decision-making decreases unfortunately with fatigue 🥸

And we have arrived at the mechanism behind hyperfatigue 🥱

  • Brush: Grizzly Bay Shire 26mm V18 Fanchurian

  • Razor: River Razor 14 8/8" Full Hollow (Straight Shave 375)

  • Lather: PannaCrema - Nuàvia Verde - Soap

  • Post Shave: Spearhead Shaving Company - Seaforth! Heather - Aftershave

  • Post Shave: Thayers - Lavender - Toner

This was one of those mornings when, at the end of the shave, my reaction was "Woah!". I absolutely love the freshness and greenness of Nuàvia Verde. I could easily use this for Austere August or for seventy days, as I did with SV 70th Anniversary.

And the River Razor is really excellent. I have had several conversations with Boris, and he is quite passionate about hollow grinding, choice of steel, and steel tempering. This comes through in the way his razor shaves. Todays shave felt feather light and ultra comfortable, yet it was a very close 2-pass shave. If you are considering a custom, hollow ground, carbon steel straight razor, that is focused on performance rather than a lot of ornamentation, I suggest that you consider River Razors.

Nov 10, 2023 - Fougère Friday: L'Avventura

  • Prep: Klar - Activated Charcoal - Face Soap
  • Brush: Chisel & Hound/House of Mammoth Beloved 26mm v15 Fanchurian
  • Razor: EldrormR Industries MM24
  • Blade: Personna GEM PTFE [5]
  • Lather: Grooming Dept - L'Avventura - Soap
  • Post Shave: Grooming Dept - L'Avventura - Aftershave (Alcohol Free)
  • Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Lavender Interrupted - Eau de Parfum

It's a day late from the anniversary, but this shave is in honor of u/EldrormR's wonderfully upgraded MM24 razor. It's remains in my regular rotation.

I started with a bright, citrus fougère for the shave to beat back this rainy Friday morning, and then wrapped up with this dark, lavender gem. The tobacco notes were especially coming through this morning.

S.S. Paris Wins Again

  • Brush: Dogwood Handcrafts Papa Eld with Declaration Grooming B3 knot
  • Razor: Böker S.S. Paris Wins
  • Lather: Mitchell's Wool Fat
  • Aftershave: Ralon Original
  • Fragrance: Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver

I had a day off today, and I finally found the time to fix my vintage Böker with the broken scales.

Luck would have it that modern Ralf Aust scales have almost exactly the same size and shape as the broken, original Böker ones.

The scales swap went without hiccup and the razor even closes almost perfectly centre 😊

I'm really glad that this beautiful razor is back to being useful and the B3 and The Fat worked like a charm and gave me a fantastic lather and shave.

Nice! Do the Aust scales come with a wedge? It does not appear that you used the old wedge.

[–] djundjila 2 points 1 year ago

Yes, they come with the wedge. These black plastic scales are just pinned, so the two halves can still rotate w.r.t. one another (which makes stacking the scale, washer, blade, washer, scale stack much less fiddly.

The Ralf Aust horn scales are glued to the wedge, so that degree of freedom isn't available during assembly.

Clean Dirt

  • Brush: Zenith 506U N (50/50 horse mane/tail)
  • Razor: Dovo Bismarck 2 (7/8″, full hollow, carbon steel)
  • Lather: Declaration Grooming Dirtyver
  • Aftershave: Spearhead Shaving Company Seaforth! Spiced
  • Fragrance: Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver

I'm a late-comer to Dirtyver, and wow it's a nice scent. I don't get a dirty sense of the scent, rather the vetiver, orange, and tobacco are create a fresh, clean and almost spicy impression. I'll have to get the splash at some point (in the far future, first I need to use up some stuff). Spiced with it's mandarin a Christmas spices works well with Dirtyver. I'll have to repeat this combo. Eau Intense Vétiver is fantastic.

I've enjoyed using the Bismarck and the horsey these past few days, but now I'll switch to something else.

Eau Intense Vétiver is fantastic

💯

That reminds me to use SV Desert Vetiver. I have not tried Dirtyver but the last thing I need is another scent that I love.

[–] djundjila 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Then I suggest you stay away from Dirtyver for your own protection 😄

[–] gcgallant 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I do have Eufros Vétiver de Haïti which I don’t use enough. 🤔

[–] djundjila 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think that's one of u/VisceralWatch's favorite vetiver scents

[–] gcgallant 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yes, he sent me a smush of it long ago then I bought a tub and AS.

  • Brush: Simpsons Chubby 2 Jade 27mm HMW
  • Razor: Blutt Rasur BR-1 (setting: 0.86mm Plate)
  • Blade: Personna Lab Blue (2)
  • Lather: Martin de Candre - Fougère - Soap
  • Post Shave: Fabergé - Brut - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Thayers - Rose - Toner

A true Fougère Friday, and both PannaCrema Nuàvia Verde and Martin de Candre Fougère come in glass jars. There's an elegance to this that I enjoy; especially considering almost every other soap I use comes in a plastic tub.

I had a Covid booster shot earlier today and these normally knock me out for about 36 hours. I can feel the effects coming on so the Blutt with the mild plate seemed like a good safe choice. I'll likely be using a safety razor tomorrow, as well.
