Summary

Russian lawmaker threatened the U.S. with total destruction on state TV after reports that the Biden administration authorized Ukraine to use American-made ATACMS missiles for strikes deep into Russia.

Gurulev also claimed Russia could destroy NATO allies England and France with a single nuclear strike.

Meanwhile, Russia intensified its offensive, launching massive airstrikes on Kyiv and deploying 50,000 troops, including 10,000 North Koreans, to the Kursk region, though facing heavy losses.

Bro, you have the second strongest military in Russia.

[–] IDKWhatUsernametoPutHereLolol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 37 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Nah, putin will command the strongest military on Jan 20.

My brain still hasn't gotten to the acceptance stage where I fully realize trump actually IS going to be president again.

Like......it still feels like a bad dream I'm going to wake up from.

Which, if that's true, it means you're all figments of my dream world. So, bad news for you. From your perspective, either trump is president, or I wake up and this entire world simply ceases to exist.

I think the North Korean's might be better trained... 3rd best army in Russia?

Not sure how relevant Wagner is now, but possibly even fourth best army in Russia?

Says the guy who's government is sending millions of their future generation to disappear in a pointless war.

"There will essentially be nothing left of America, which is trying to drag us into escalation. There will be no Biden or Trump. America is being inflicted with 95 percent total damage," said Andrei Gurulev, a State Duma deputy, speaking on Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov, broadcast by state-owned station Russia-1.

95% sounds like a lot. Not sure how he's measuring, though.

"Today, we are quite ready to destroy the entire nuclear potential of England and France with a single strike. This will be one of the options for deterring the United States from striking Russia," the former tank commander added.

Firstly, I'm skeptical that Russia has the ability to reliably locate both the British and French subs at sea.

Secondly, I'd say that as plans to get the US to not escalate with Russia go, a preemptive nuclear strike against the UK and France probably is going to be pretty counterproductive.

they'll saber rattle like crazy until Jan 20 and then laud trump as the great war averter. Everything related to Trunmp or Russia is just a low quality reality TV show. They have no chance at all against even a Nato without the US, and they cant launch nukes without being hit themselves. Its all a bunch of not-very-clever nonsense.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 13 points 4 days ago

I love how dry and understated this comment is. Also, I'm pretty sure if russia decides an overt attack on the US, Biden can simply not hand over powers to avoid confusion. I don't think Biden would do that because if he had enough of a spine to do that, Trump would have already been in jail. Details.

Did he give any particular timeframe for this claim, or is he hoping the heat death of the universe will do the work for him?

Mass extinction due to the rapidly changing climate worsened by the sheer volume of hot air coming from Moscow will get us long before ~~Russian~~ Soviet -- like they have anything more modern -- nukes.

The Washington Post sold it in 2010 due to declining revenue.

I am ready to see rich people's kids go to freeze their ass off in the ruzzian tundra to defend and Avenge "Mara Lago!". I understand if putin needs to start his attack there. It's such a, the most important and significant national thing that all of us Americans would be deeply affected by if some outside force were to invade it. Maralago is spelled man, the la. Then go. Near or in the state called Florida by the way.

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Rich kids don’t go to front lines for war, you crazy.

[–] LANIK2000@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Honestly would be hilarious. Considering their last missile test launch exploded in the silo. If there was a nuke inside, it would likely cause a chain reaction blowing up adjacent missiles. Oh, imagine russia's other depo explosions that kept burning for days after the initial strike that was already strong enough to create a mushroom cloud, but like WAY BIGGER!

It's funny they took this long to saber rattle this hard, before their heavily demonstrated incompetence, I might've been a little scared.
