Here is what I mean by this. Out of all the times I've been to a doctor, been visited by a cop, called the cops, been to court, went to school, and so on, I've realized lately that I haven't had a single good experience with any of them.

Doctors either always tell me nothing is wrong when something is wrong or said something was wrong when something wasn't. Got traumatic brain injury? Oh it's just a bonk on the head. Got blue balls? Bring em in, doc needs money. The presence of doctors here is so inconsistent with recovery from things like illnesses that the place resembles the stereotypical Sparta-obsessed fascist nation where hospitals don't exist by design.

Police and courts will give you no luck at all stemming from having absolutely no consistency with how they deal with things whatsoever. I've seen child abuse cases where babies are left with behavioral issues that mirror those child rehoming documentaries and the abuser gets two months, while also seeing small cases of assault that lead to two years. I've had instances where I ask police about something they can do. "We'll look into it" they say. Nothing happens. The next thing that happens, they're blaming me for a dead tree from my yard with a branch that snapped off and fell on a neighbor's fence, and I go to get sentenced.

My teachers were like these examples too. Did I benefit even once from my teachers? No. Did I benefit from the social environment? No. Did they treat me like Mr. Burns treats Homer? All the time. They didn't see me as a person, they saw me as a goal. And they would never mind cheating their own rules to achieve it.

And the moment they don't think they have a job to do regarding you, the same jobs they half-ass anyways, they treat you less like an individual to remember and from time to time treat as an equal human and more like a bird you pushed out of a nest without intent to hear from them again. And I didn't realize this until recently, that I have no positive experiences with public servants. Makes me almost not want to work.

Anyone else?

There's a saying you might want to get familiar with

"If everywhere you look, all you see is assholes, maybe you're the asshole."

[โ€“] Kit@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I knew it, I'm surrounded by Assholes!

Keep firing, assholes!

It's not "everywhere", it's the public service part of society. Never have I complained about, for instance, how well my food comes out at a restaurant, or how good the car mechanics here are (imagine a society where cars have overall better doctors than people and where this can be compared). It's always the everyday "mandatory" people in society. So I can say it's not a problem with myself.

Those two sets of professions differ in that one set has to interact with you directly and one doesn't. So you haven't really ruled out yourself as the problem.

It's funny how people make such sweeping generalisations like they're prophetic or something. Are some people shit? Sure, some suck at their jobs, and some are arseholes. Does that make all of them evil incarnate? Fuck no.

Nope, my experience has been mostly positive.

Doctor is amazing, and when my biopsy came back negative, he said It says it is not cancer been I think it is wrong, we will reorder the same biopsy. He was right.

Got pulled over for doing a Uturn to help a stray animal. Cop reviewsed my driving record and recognized I had zero infractions, so gave me the website link to research Uturn rules in an Industrial zone rather than a ticket.

Had some great teachers. One was a great mentor and we stayed in touch with over the years. One teacher volunteered to stay after school when admin said our Dungeons and Dragons club had to have a staff member involved.

Everyone's experience may differ

Well, at least in the US it is hard to find a good doctor. I've had so many doctors, one had my gallbladder taken out unnecessarily and cancelled all my other check ups that were meant to find out what was actually going on with my gastrointestinal issues. All I needed for my gallbladder was a diet change which they never told me. It was I decently good shape when they removed it. That same doctor wouldn't refer me to a psychiatrist to diagnose ADHD due to the fact that I had anxiety and didn't want me on stimulants despite the fact that treating ADHD would likely eliminate the anxiety problem in the first place. I had new doctor who told me to treat my chronic spine pain and surrounding muscle, neck, shoulder, head, and eye pain with ibuprophen and a freaking chiropractor. No referrals to actual specialists... it's likely due to a bulged disk from a previous neck injury that yet again had been left untreated. So I deal with tingling and numbness every so often as well as POTS now. The doctor after that prescribed me a fatal dose of prevalite the pharmacist warned me about and I was like yeah, no way I'm taking anywhere near that much. I still ended up having to stop because hw never warned me about all the bruising it would cause. This same doctor also told me that nobody needs to eat anything but meat because that's where all the nutrients where when I told him I've developed a strong intolerance for any kind of carbs, even whole grains and beans, even most fruit, as they make me seriously ill and trigger my IBSD... Instead of helping me figure out a way to have a more varied diet than green vegetables and animal products (can't make good pizza with just that)... he just said stick to my diet. Yes, eating that way erased my inflammation and saved my guts but who is gonna live that way? So I'm back to slowly dying. Thanks doc. Oh, and he also told me that my tachycardia could be due to the covid vaccine even though I had the symptoms way before I ever got it... ๐Ÿ™ƒ I've given up. Even my cardiologist wasted my money. He saw that my resting heart rate often was around 120-140 and was planning all of these tests to find out why, gives me a monitor to stick on me which cannot get wet or be sweated on for 2 weeks so clearly I can't work out or do anything that'll make me sweaty or cause me to need a full on shower AND put me on propranolol which of course lowered my resting heart rate and left it at that. He then blamed anxiety. Well now I'm on 20mg of lexapro and happily can't feel a thing in terms of anxiety or depression which is great but my heart rate is still at suicide levels when I'm doing something as mundane as dry my hair or cook.

I just wanted a doctor who would take the time to listen to everything my body is telling me, do more tha a few blood tests, keep working on it until we figure out what all of this is and get me a diagnosis for one or multiple issues (autoimmune?) I'm dealing with. I just want to be able to function again and not be homebound worried that if I lose my wfh job I won't be able to work.

So it's great when someone finds a good doctor, I'm glad. But many people experience what I have and I'm so tired at this point, I try to just keep going until my body finally gives out... or I can become a cyborg. I'd sell my remaining working body parts to be a cyborg.

you're mostly identifying quirks of capitalism. you need dialectical materialism. cops and judges are straight up agents of capital and are the arm of the state which exerts its monopoly on violence. they are more or less all bad people by definition and your enemies. doctors under capitalism act as gatekeepers of live saving medical care and profit off people's need for it. also usually from privileged backgrounds so lacking empathy and likely your class enemy if they own their own practice. another unsavoury bunch. teachers generally are better people with at least some kind of noble goals but the school system under capitalism is more akin to prison and is inherently abusive. individual teachers can't exactly change the system much from the inside so a lot of them end up perpetuating the cycle of it.

i think that people make judgements and act upon those judgements based on a category or type that's familiar to them and i also think that's goes at least doubly so for anyone that has to serve the public for their livelihoods.

people see me as a type when i put no effort in and i didn't realize that until i got my neuro divergence assessment results and fully embraced the "fakeness" that my social butterfly mother taught me as a child.

i resisted it for decades because i also felt like the doctors were just chasing a paycheck and the proctors where just going through the motions and i regret the years i wasted the despite bad experiences with several of doctors & proctors.

i've since learned that no one has your best interests at heart except maybe family or friends. it's very cliche and it's very true and i hate that i have to forge and create my own world despite that knowledge underpinning it.

i hope you figure it out something that works for you; it sounds like you're in a bad place rn based on your posts and i think that this is the only way i can help.

You got sentenced because a tree branch fell and damaged a fence? Sentenced to what? By whom?

[โ€“] CraigOhMyEggo@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 weeks ago

Local officials. Got ticketed.

I've had mostly terrible interactions with doctors, including them trying me on random SSRIs for nearly a decade before they ran out of options and agreed to try ADHD meds.

I did have one REALLY good interaction with a guy at a walk-in clinic though. Felt my knee while I bent it and told me imaging wasn't necessary because he could feel the tear. Multiple years of false answers and physical therapy that went nowhere and then I got lucky enough to have a doctor who had the same kind of tear and knew what he was doing.
