What is a Tankie?

Alternatively, a detailed blog post about Tankies.

(caution of biased source)

Basic Rules:

Sh.itjust.works Instance rules apply! If you are from other instances, please be mindful of the rules. — Basically, don't be a dick.

Hate-Speech — You should be familiar with this one already; practically all instances have the same rules on hate speech.

Apologia(Using the Modern terminology for Apologia) No Defending, Denying, Justifying, Bolstering, or Differentiating authoritarian acts or endeavours, whether be a Pro-CCP viewpoint, Stalinism, Islamic Terrorism or any variation of Tankie Ideology.

Revisionism — No downplaying or denying atrocities past and present. Calling Tankies shills, foreign/federal agents, or bots also falls under this rule. Extremists exist. They are real. Do not call them shills or fake users as it handwaves their extremism.

Tankies can explain their views but may be criticised or attacked for them. Any slight infraction on the rules above will immediately earn a warning and possibly a ban.

Off-topic Discussion — Do not discuss unrelated topics to the point of derailing the thread. Stay focused on the direct content of the post as opposed to arguing.

You'll be warned if you're violating the instance and community rules. Continuing poor behaviour after being warned will result in a ban or removal of your comments. Bans typically only last 24 hours, but each subsequent infraction will double the amount. Depending on the content, the ban time may be increased. You may request an unban at any time.

It doesn't matter their political system or economic alignment, authoritarians always look for unproven or racist ideas to divide others away from themselves. It doesn't matter what race or for which political idea, racism is always bad and corrupts all ideas.

It’s easier than accepting that all people are capable of good and evil. It’s so easy to decide villains are born that way because then the targets are easy and you’re definitely a good person.

well said. Shame they don't see that

I’m just going to continue to be happy I don’t know what Hexbear is…

[–] seathru@lemmy.sdf.org 20 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Probably best to add it to your instance blocklist now and nip that shit in the bud before you do.

They're on .world, which defederated ages ago.

[–] goat@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I thought hexbear defederated from world

I know they defederated from SJW, oh man, it was hilarious. They were all hyping themselves up that they have an entire ocean to dunk with and then they lost their safespace and they quickly folded. It didn't even last a day before they admitted defeat and ran back to their safespace.

Huh. I never realised sh.itjust.works kinda shares an acronym with Social Justice Warriors. I think I'd prefer SIW given how it's punctuated, but SJW does indeed work too.

You've likely interacted with some of their terminally-online dungeon denizens before. They have authoritarian takes that would embarrass fascists, but they call everyone else Nazis. Truly a special and unique crowd over there.

What did Rammstein do again?

[–] Dagamant@lemmy.world 26 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Gave groupies better seating so they could have easy access to them after shows. Potentially drugging some of them although that was never proven.

I saw them in Philly a few years ago. At the end of the show they had their cam feed point to women to flash the camera. Whoever was directing the feed kept cutting back to one woman who was obviously not comfortable with it, definitely left a bad taste in my mouth

It finally became news that rock bands take advantage of groupies? What's next? A rapper actually murdering someone? A polka tuba player eating an entire cake?

If I pay someone to do a sex crime to me, do I get in trouble or spare them the trouble?

[–] Noel_Skum@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Unfortunately illegal is illegal so, yes, they probably would be prosecuted. It’s the “crime” bit that matters. I think there was a German (lol) cannibal who consensually ate some bits of people. Prosecuted.

He had a really great TV though.
