Mildly Interesting

This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.

This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

Just post some stuff and don't spam.

I like how it leaves in a swiggity swooty fashion.

[–] papalonian@lemmy.world 30 points 1 month ago

How have I never noticed that these goobers don't have arms or nothin. I can't imagine this thing walking in any way other than a swiggity swooty approach.

This is God's creature right here.

[–] tabarnaski@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 month ago

I had to rewatch the video to make sure I got an exact image of what swiggity swooty means

I thought kiwis spoke English.

[–] magikmw@lemm.ee 44 points 1 month ago (1 children)

They do have a funny way of speaking it.

[–] Cagi@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

They say "LILILILILILI!" Then cut your throat with a thrown chakram that bounced off the throat of the guy beside you.

[–] Haus@kbin.earth 8 points 1 month ago (2 children)

They do speak English, but in spoken Kiwi, they convert 75% of their vowels to a short i.

Ah, so the kiwi has a bird body but still uses its dinosaur voice.

Nightmare Potato.

There is currently chaos in my house. I played this on my phone without headphones and my dogs have absolutely lost their shit. The Miniature Pinscher, being a Miniature Pinscher, was barking and spinning and occasionally attacking his spaniel brother who just has this "WTF BRO" face of horror on. Mayhem.

PS: He's calmed down...after a close to ten minute freak out.

As it goes with Min-Pins, he couldn't give less of a shit the second time around. He's over it.

When it ran away was pretty great.

This is the sound of an animal with no natural predators.

slowed down would sound like the stereotypical t-rex

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 27 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I eat kiwi all the time and I ain't never heard them make a sound.

[–] OutlierBlue@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 month ago

They're obviously dead before they put the them out at the grocery store. I bet you don't see yours running around outside either.

[–] GiddyGap@lemm.ee 24 points 1 month ago

Also a very interesting run style.

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 23 points 1 month ago

So melodious.

[–] OpenStars@discuss.online 20 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I suddenly understand the inspiration behind shows like Lost being made:-).

I don't believe this is a real animal.

[–] wabafee@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago

It's a fruit

[–] thegreatgarbo@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

Birds aren't real

[–] stelelor@lemmy.ca 19 points 1 month ago

Sounds just like the sounds newer trucks make when they back up: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=A3Wt1_51EVA

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago

Screams of a thousand dark souls...

[–] CheeryLBottom@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

That's some Jurassic Park stuff, right there

[–] klemptor@startrek.website 14 points 1 month ago

Holy piss I did not expect that

[–] user1234@lemmynsfw.com 14 points 1 month ago

Sounds like a slipping serpentine belt.

[–] sloppy_diffuser@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 month ago

Sounds like one of my 10 alarms, all with different tones, to make sure I wake up. This one is Krypton on Android.

[–] Kintarian@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

Imagine you're camping, it's 2:00 a.m., and you hear that noise!

[–] cholesterol@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (3 children)

This reminds me so much of the scrabs of Oddworld

Who triggered the robot's theft alarm?

[–] macrocarpa@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

If memory serves me correctly it's named for the sound it makes

Kiiiiii wiiiiiiii

[–] Syd@lemm.ee 7 points 1 month ago

Yeah its exactly like a Pokemon. I had no idea they went "kiwi kiwi" in a cute voice like this.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I actually wasn't expecting it to be that shade of color either.

[–] HappycamperNZ@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

They are brown - just looks like that with the spotlight

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

Thanks! Was about to ask about the Darwinian prospects of a flightless, wingless avian colored like a medium rare steak.

[–] dharmacurious@slrpnk.net 6 points 1 month ago

Well, kiwis are clearly evil. I never knew! I've always liked the little buggers, and felt bad for them with the whole giant egg situation.

But that's a demon. It deserves egg pain. Shame it only gets the females.

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Think I found the new screamer for my band
