Love this soap and splash. I feel that its freshness counters the oppressive heat we're having. Yesterday was the first time that I used a straight razor and did not strop it after the shave. (I only strop after a shave, not before.) I plan to continue without stropping for this entire month. I'm expecting that I will notice an edge difference somewhere around 12 shaves. That's where I notice a DE blade beginning to go off. I may need to add a third pass at that point.

That's a very good looking setup for the month. Varen won't be much of a sacrifice, nor will the Drakkant. The knot will be what it is, of course; a work in progress for as many shaves as it takes to become comfortable. Love the handle on that Zenith!

Thank you! No, so far it's not been much of a sacrifice to use Varen and the Drakkant. The brush is still at full stank, but eventually that will go away too.

Oops, didn't have time to hone tonight, so another tuggy shave for me. That's the price of being ill prepared for an AA challenge during a family vacation, I guess πŸ˜….

The SOC still has a lot of backbone, and just eats lather up. But the tips are soft, so I see no major obstacle to a smooth bit of RawHogginy, and I have all the soap and patience required to break this pretty brush in.
