Thank you for sharing this. I was absolutely FURIOUS with news outlets who thought her name change (and ESPECIALLY her deadname) was “newsworthy” in 2022, because she made it crystal clear that she wanted NOTHING to do with this man. She is NOT a public figure. It was nothing but gossip. And having myself been outed against my wishes in a well-known publication for the sake of gossip (albeit with WAY less publicity) I can tell you that can REALLY fuck someone up for a long time.

And now that manbaby Elon is publicly and explicitly dragging her through the mud, deadnaming and misgendering her to millions, and blaming her for his right-wing shitlording. She shouldn’t have to give an interview like this, though I certainly understand why she opted to. She should just be able to live her damn life in quiet peace. I feel for her so much.

[–] return2ozma@lemmy.world 25 points 4 months ago

It was a great interview. F Elon forever!

I love how even his bullshit story was already damming to anyone who sees children as people. What a pathetic deadbeat narcissist.

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 18 points 4 months ago

damming to anyone who sees children as people.

I found my favorite comment of the week. Maybe even the month!

[–] MindTraveller@lemmy.ca 5 points 4 months ago (3 children)

Using ableist slurs on bigots doesn't actually help. It just increases the amount of bigotry in the world and makes minorities feel even more unsafe. You can't "target" an ableist slur to only insult the person who deserves it. It inherently attacks the undeserving as well.

[–] BluJay320@lemmy.blahaj.zone 42 points 4 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Narcissist isn’t a slur, and narcissism isn’t a disability. It’s a personality disorder. There is a difference.

Stop spreading misinformation.

[–] MindTraveller@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 months ago (3 children)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcissistic_personality_disorder

It is often comorbid with other mental disorders and associated with significant functional impairment and psychosocial disability.[1]

It's a disability.

[–] BluJay320@lemmy.blahaj.zone 28 points 3 months ago

“Associated with” psychosocial disability. That means it can occur with disabilities, not that it is one.

Because it isn’t.

Hey, guys, what if we made "asshole" a protected class?

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 4 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Literally every source, authority and dsm imagineable distinguishes nacissm and npd as separate things but sure, you, rando on the internet are the only correct one.

[–] magic_smoke@links.hackliberty.org 28 points 4 months ago (2 children)

I might be out of touch here, but I'm confused as to what part of that was ableist? Not trying to be an asshole, just trying to figure shit out.

[–] BluJay320@lemmy.blahaj.zone 21 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

None of it. This person regularly spreads misinformation like this and claims anything they disagree with to be slurs or ableism.

[–] MindTraveller@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 months ago (2 children)

N*rcissist is a slur against people with NPD. It originates in pop culture with self help scams that told people their abusive friends and family had NPD. Also the etymology of the word begins with a Greek guy who was put to death by the gods for being asexual, so yikes.

[–] amanda@aggregatet.org 18 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Congratulations on having one of the worst takes I’ve ever seen (the one about narcissus).

[–] MindTraveller@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Anyone who thinks a 16 year old deserved to die because he wouldn't date or sex anyone is probably a pedo.

Anyone who thinks "gods" "cursed" someone obviously needs training wheels.

[–] LadyAutumn@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I'm reading up to try and understand a bit more where you're coming from. Do you have any links that expand on this? Ableism is 100% unacceptable here, and I do understand how "narcissist" can be used as a pejorative or to dismiss someone who doesn't have NPD. I just hadn't heard it referred to as a slur before. So yeah if you could point me in the direction of some more info I'd appreciate that.

So, as expected, it turns out Elon is a guy who decided to move companies out of California because he wants to "protect" kids from not getting abused by their parents. I hope that vile piece of shit carks it and steps on a lego on his way out.

Contrary to what many parents (including my own) seem to believe, hurting one's own children isn't making them healthier nor in any way better. It's just fucking them up and teaching them to hide shit their parents don't want to see. It doesn't go away. It's still in there. It's just in there, twisting the person's whole damn life around and some prick who figures they're entitled to a person because they figured out where to hide the sausage thinks they fixed "their" kid. "Yeah good, now they aren't crying any more. Problem solved." "Now they don't look at people of the same sex any more. Problem solved." "What do you mean, 'there's a person in there?' I'll raise my kid how I want to!"

Excuse me, I'm gonna go seethe for a bit.

I don't follow news, especially not on public figures like Elon Musk so I didn't know what kind of person he is but this sounds really bad. I don't understand people like this, they don't want to even try to help or support their own children. Can't imagine what he (or anyone else who is like him) is willing to do to a stranger.

[–] Angry_Autist@lemmy.world 33 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I will help you understand:

Narcissists treat the world as their personal toybox. The people inside are not 'people' to them, but 'things' to be manipulated, exploited, and discarded.

Narcissists also are hyper-focused on appearances and anything that may be associated with status and control, so being seen as the father of a daughter that represents values not approved of by regressive conservatism is a detriment because 'How can he be a good conservative world leader when his daughter is trans?'

To regressives, LGBTQ+ people represent glaring flaws in the universe. They embody a dangerous disregard for the social values of 100 years ago, which the regressives enshrine in some sort of misguided cultural nostalgia.

Instead of simply considering it 'the way people are born', they view it as a deliberately anti-social choice taken for the express purpose of the individual contributing to the collapse of society.

So when regressives harass and marginalize LGBTQ+, they genuinely feel they are performing a morally good act that keeps society from imploding, and the constantly pumped out anti-LGBTQ+ propaganda the right keeps vomiting up keeps the fires of their hatred burning.

Your child is statistically safer with a drag queen than they are with a priest, politician, or hollywood producer. This is a fact they will ignore as long as it allows them the moral latitude to hate what they don't understand.

[–] Missmuffet@lemmy.world 10 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Damn, this is a really good summary. Kudos

[–] Angry_Autist@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago

It's been eating at my brain for a decade and a half now

[–] itslilith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 32 points 4 months ago (4 children)

Musk is about as bad as you can imagine. Narcissistic megalomaniac that recently took a hard right towards fascism and blames trans people for it

[–] PanArab@lemm.ee 15 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Not recently, it is just that the mask dropped recently

[–] Doom@ttrpg.network 12 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Not recently. Always was PR

[–] itslilith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 3 months ago

Fair point. Recently openly

[–] Angry_Autist@lemmy.world 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

It's not that money makes people evil, it's that money allows evil people to do so much more damage.

How different would the world be if Rupert Murdoch never became a wealthy media tycoon?

[–] amanda@aggregatet.org 3 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

I think it sure can enhance the bad things that are already there. Money usually gives you power and influence and often (if you have enough) brings with it a bunch of sycophants that concern whatever you’re saying which would tend to enhance your worst impulses.

It also enhances any existing tendencies to view other people as instrumental to your own goals, because in some sense they are.

What Musk is clearly doing here is seeing his children as extensions and in some sense property of himself, and that means he needs to control them. Their autonomy is a direct threat to what he sees as his existence. That’s not the kind of delusion you’re born with, that’s taught.

[–] cetvrti_magi@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago

Blaming someone else for having such worldview is one of the lamest things I ever heard.

[–] zarkanian@sh.itjust.works 25 points 3 months ago

The guy's like a cartoon caricature of a conservative. He legit used the term "woke mind virus" with a straight face.

[–] PanArab@lemm.ee 45 points 3 months ago (1 children)

All the billions in the world couldn't buy him a heart or a brain.

Idk, Dr Oz hasn't been the same these days

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 26 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Yeah that sounds about right given what I know about him and about being a trans child with a narcissistic father

[–] Womdat10@lemmy.blahaj.zone 18 points 4 months ago

I wish I were surprised

[–] cupcakezealot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

elon musk's daughter becoming more popular than elon on his own app without even having to pay $44b is hilarious

[–] xenoclast@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)
