1 year ago #twitter and #reddit were my top social media sites. Now I don't even contemplate returning to either. The #fediverse has completely scratched those itches. Between @elk and @syncforlemmy, nothing is different from a UI perspective. Community is healthier in the fediverse. So thank you to everyone here who builds out infrastructure, tooling, and community for the fediverse. I appreciate it.

@jordanlund I think that's why the fediverse is going to win. The self sabotaging habits of these centralized platforms for their bottom line only makes the fediverse more compelling.

Every misstep in a centralized app is a growth opportunity for the fediverse.
Whereas every misstep for a particular community in the fediverse just strengthens the decentralization of the fediverse.

People will always get dissatisfied with admins and move; at least the fediverse is designed with that in mind.

What I explained on reddit, before I left, is that their entire business model depends on monetizing free user submitted content, controlled by free user based moderation.

That model is INFINITELY replaceable. See digg, fark, slashdot.

You want your moderators to toe the business line but they aren't employees and you aren't paying them? Good luck with that!
