Today I finally got a reply, but it's just a lame ass copypasta, basically retelling what the update on their blog already stated, ie. "there will be developer mode and people are lying about the implications" (paraphrased tl;dr)

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding the recent Firmware Authorization changes. Due to the overwhelming number of requests we've received on this topic, we've created this unified response to address your concerns.

We've recently published a detailed blog post explaining the updates introduced by this firmware. We’ve made the decision to implement an optional Developer Mode feature(under an updated LAN Mode), to provide advanced users with more control and flexibility. The developer mode will be released later.

To explain: When LAN developer mode is enabled by the user, the printer will retain the necessary interfaces, including MQTT channel, live stream, and FTP, to support third-party integrations that rely on LAN mode. Please note that Bambu Lab cannot guarantee full compatibility or provide customer support for this mode.

Additionally, we hope to clarify that online claims such as remote disabling of printers, mandatory subscriptions, or unauthorized monitoring of printed files are completely false. For details please kindly refer to the blog post.

At present, the Firmware Authorization update is available in Open Beta exclusively for the X1 series. Participation in the beta program is entirely optional, allowing you to explore and provide feedback on the new features. Alternatively, you can continue using your current firmware.

Orange on the left, lemon on the right. Lemon looks darker since I did an oopsie with the water level and had to boil for a while. Orange wine is at an fg of 1.006 and tastes very sweet, don’t even have to back sweeten it. It tastes different but I like it! 18% abv. Lemon wine has a very bitter back end. I’ll be screwing around with back sweetening it to see how it is. The lemon wine ended at 1.032 or 10% abv. Girlfriend likes both so I’m not sure which I’ll be turning into brandy but either way, citrus test was a success!

Mexico has refused a request from President Donald Trump's administration to allow a U.S. military aircraft deporting migrants to land in the country, a U.S. official and a Mexican official told Reuters.

U.S. military aircraft carried out two similar flights, each with about 80 migrants, to Guatemala on Friday. The government was not able to move ahead with a plan to have a C-17 transport aircraft land in Mexico, however, after the country denied permission.

The Mexican official did not give a reason for the denial of permission to land, while the foreign ministry did not mention the incident.

So I want to block hexbear.net. I see it's in the instance blocked list. However I still see their communities on community search. HOWEVER, I also can't block them from my profile, it doesn't give me the option. Known bug? User Error?

It's hard to characterize in a single sentence, so I'll just break it down into its constituent parts.

The Beep

When the laundry cycle finishes it does the following:

• It beeps super loudly for 5 seconds
• If you don't run to switch it off, it will wait 30 more seconds and then continue to beep super loudly for 5 seconds
• If you switch it off whilst it's beeping, it will continue to finish its beeping
• There is no volume setting nor any way to switch this off.

The Door

When it's finished. It does not release. That beeping sound from earlier to tell you to come get your laundry? No no no, that was just the "come and watch me drain" alarm.

• Switching it off has no effect on the door release.
• It releases whenever it wants. It could be 5 minutes, it could be 20.
• When it does release, all you will get is a sound, so you better be around to hear it.
• If you miss this sound, it will lock itself again 10-15 minutes later and rotate your clothes.
• It will then repeat the release process.

I've been building up my digital music library again after giving music streaming the boot. I was going to attempt to digitize my CD and vinyl collection, but I frankly don't have the time for all that. So I thought I might turn to file-sharing and download digital versions of my physical collection. I prefer FLAC or WAV if the former isn't available. Can you recommend good places to get started?

I've got several of these empty steel propane tanks from heating the chicken coop during the recent cold weather before I got an adapter to run the heater off of a larger refillable tank. Any ideas on what they could be repurposed for?

Seems like there should be some use for them besides tossing them in the recycling. I'd assume I'd need to poke a hole in them before recycling since they are/were pressure vessels.

I know there are adapters out there to refill them but now that I can use a larger, more easily refillable, tank I don't really have any inclination to do so.

My only thought so far was to cut the top off, drill some holes, and make a little stick burning camp stove. But, that's not something I'll ever use.

I've got a fairly extensive workshop and metal working tools so pretty much everything is on the table. I can even do really shitty welding if required.

Obviously for Northern Hemisphere folks here. Where I am, it has been mostly below freezing, a little snow but not enough to pe pretty or good to play in. It's mostly indoor activities. I work out at the gym, play board games, have random get togethers with friends. What do you do?

Edit: Thank you guys for being so quick to post your comments and give your thoughts, it makes me wish I said something sooner rather than dealing with it on my own. You guys are seriously awesome, and have made me want to fight way harder to be a better person for my friends and family, and everyone else around me. I think tonight I'll finally be able to sleep, and I'm looking forward for tomorrow and to be able to talk to my Dad about how I'm feeling and what I'm thinking about all this, and to spend as much time with him as I can. Take care of yourself guys! And again, thank you so, so much. I seriously feel way better and my anxiety is a lot less now.

Before joining Lemmy I used to be a devoted Christian since my family raised me as one and have been Christians for generations. And to add important context, I'm not talking about judge mental homophobic trump supporting Christians that judge gays and everyone else they see who don't live the way they live. I'm talking about being a real follower of Christ who loves thy neighbor and knows we have no right to judge, not what most church's are today who just exist to make a profit. My family are bible based Christians and raised me as one too, not by propaganda machines. (Or at least the propaganda that politicians or "Church's" who exploit vulnerable people for their money like to spread around. The "buy my book to change your life" or "plant your $1000 seed" type of shenanigans makes me sick.)

Anywhoo, while being on Lemmy and learning a lot about U.S. politics I just have never seen on other social media sites like X and Reddit, and talking about science, capitalism, global warming, and so on and so fourth with the incredible people on here, it has really broaden my view on certain subjects and be a lot more open to a lot more ideas, one of which is Atheism.

I haven't thought about it too much, but recently my Grandfather died and so my emotions and thoughts have wandered about him and about loosing someone I care a lot about, and then a question popped into my head; is he truly in a "better place"? Do they actually go somewhere? What will happen to my Dad?

After that random thought, my brain has kind of spiraled out of control about this topic and I haven't been able to sleep well since I've been having anxiety thinking about death. What is the point if all of life (our life) is truly just our brains, and our brain stops working? Is it really just, nothingness? What is the point of making all these amazing memories with family and friends that I cherish more than anything in the world, if all these memories are going to be forgotten? Whether its today, or 80 years from now? With this ideology, when I stop breathing, I will quite literally become nothing. There will be nothing. I am dead. It's made me into this "why should I care" mood about almost everything.

I think I've kind of made my anxiety worse during the last few nights since I also decided to look up what its like to die and what scientists have said about the topic, whoops! Turns out our brain can still think 2-15 minutes after our hearts stop beating! I know I'm joking here which I tend to do when I'm in these situations but I have been extremely anxious when it comes to the fear of death. Not in a "I'm scared to use this knife to cut a slice of tomato" kind of way, but a "when we're gone there will be nothing and I will remember nothing and become nothing" sort of way.

Not trying to get political here, but with this thought in my mind for the last couple of days and hearing about situations like Palestine has made me completely rethink everything like life itself, and now every time I hear about Palestine or Ukraine or whatever else going on in the world, I can't help but burst into tears.
