Yes, I know this is a clock and not a watch, but the only Clocks communities I could find are pretty dead right now.

It's a crazy awesome mechanical clock that doesn't need batteries or manual winding, it winds itself using bellows and air temperature changes.

Senator Mark Warner’s letter follows an ADL report about extremist content on the platform.

US Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) has sent a letter to Valve CEO Gabe Newell asking if the company intends to take measures to curtail extremist content on Steam. The letter references a report by the Anti-Defamation League that identified a large number of user accounts and user-created groups “that glorified antisemitic, Nazi, white supremacist, gender- and sexuality-based hate, and other extremist ideologies” on the PC gaming platform.

The letter features a high-level view of the kind of hateful content the ADL found on Steam. That includes “40,000 groups with names that included hateful words, with the most prominent being ‘1488,’ ‘shekel,’ and ‘white power’.”

Giving money to Amazon, Wal-Mart, Microsoft, Google .etc

It's like, you can't have an argument for price gouging, when you're enabling them by spending. If people were smart, they'd stop giving them money 10 - 15 years ago and they'd be right now, trying to reconstruct so they can be more economically friendly than how they are now.

Abdullah Akl, a long-time political organiser based in New York City, said the warrants for Netanyahu, while notable, would once again distinguish those who respected the rule of law and those who would find ways to disavow it.

For months, the US has found ways to shield Israel, refusing to support a ceasefire or an arms embargo, even as the International Court of Justice (ICJ) said Israel's actions in Gaza amount to a "plausible genocide".

Akl said it was inconceivable that American names could be excluded from the charge sheets.

"Where are the rest of the arrest warrants for the people who were just as complicit as Netanyahu, the people that were just as complicit like [President] Joe Biden, like [Vice-President] Kamala Harris, and the list goes on and on with [Secretary of State] Tony Blinken and others?" Akl asked rhetorically, adding, "We want an arrest warrant for Biden."

"The Biden administration made sure to sign off on the weapons deals. They made sure to play the back door conversation."

Hi folks, I just picked up a Pixel 8 Pro on an early black Friday deal. I've had my previous OnePlus 9 for way longer than the average timeframe and the same with my Oneplus 6 before that.

Looking at cases, I noticed I recognize very few of the manufacturers, basically just Otterbox and Spigen.

If you gravitate towards a particular case manufacturer, I would love to know:

Who makes the best phone cases in 2024?

No limits on style or form, but I don't need rhinestone bling or anything like that.

I hate big tech controlling social media. I desperately want social media to be federated.

I really love community-driven social media like Reddit. Lemmy feels… too small. I really loved that Reddit let me jump into any niche hobby, and instantly I had a community. Lemmy, you’ll be lucky if that community even exists, and if it does, chances are nobody has posted in ages.

On the other hand, Lemmy is full of political content lately. I’ve basically been doom scrolling everything US election-related, and it’s really starting to take a toll on my mental health.

I know I can filter content. I know I can post and be the change I seek. Yet, it feels like an uphill battle.

Not sure what the point of this is, or if it’s even the right community to vent about this. I just really want to replace Reddit, but I find myself going back more and more (e.g. r/homekit is very active compared to Lemmy version).

I have a cheap bedslinger, an Anycubic Kobra 2, and generally it's a pretty decent printer at the price. I have flashed klipper FW on it, so I'm not using Anycubics FW.

I have issues whenever I try printing bigger parts, the first layer is always complete shit (see post photo).

Heightmap, measured with inductive probe heightmap range is only 0.085mm from min to max, so it should be reasonably flat. The heightmap is automatically recalibrated and loaded as part of my print_begin macro.

Slicer settings for line width slicer settings for layer widths

I don't know if my printer just doesn't correct Z-height during first layer, if my line width settings are completely messed up or what is causing this, but the issue is only apparent on bigger parts with large contract surface on the bed.

[SOLVED] It was just Z-offset that was too low causing this. however when running the calibration routine from ellis3dp on first layer squish, the settings that looked good on the small calibration patches, looked like crap on bigger prints. I needed a bit higher Z-offset, but that solved it.

Summary

Despite disavowing Project 2025 during the campaign, Trump’s transition team is now using its extensive database of vetted conservative candidates to help fill over 4,000 government positions.

Project 2025, criticized for its extreme policy proposals and links to Trump’s first administration, created a “conservative LinkedIn” of 10,000 candidates.

While some contributors are being tapped for key roles, others face rejection due to controversial stances.

Democrats, who used Project 2025 in campaign attacks, are warning of its influence on Trump’s agenda and planning policy responses.

"OIG Investigators found that the DEA paid one airline employee tens of thousands of dollars over the past several years in proceeds from cash seized as a result of their tips. However, the vast majority of those airport seizures aren't accompanied by criminal prosecutions. This has led to years of complaints from civil liberties groups that the DEA is abusing civil asset forfeiture—a practice that allows police to seize cash and other property suspected of being connected to criminal activity such as drug trafficking, even if the owner is never arrested or charged with a crime."

Hopefully these kinds of posts are allowed in this community, but if not feel free to point me in the correct direction.

I currently have a Synology DS218+ (I believe, it's one of the 2-bay + models) that I've been using for several years now as a home server/NAS, but I think it's time to replace it with something new.

I'm debating building something from scratch and just throwing Linux on it. Despite having built my last 3 computers, I'm still pretty bad at understanding specs and planning out builds. I was hoping you fine folks would be able to help give me some suggestions.

The Synology is currently running (and I would expect to move these over to the new build) the following:

Plex
Tautulli
FreshRss
Mealie
Calibre
Stash

Having something purpose built for this means I'd probably explore also hosting my own music library, photo back up, pi-hole, vpn, etc.

Does anyone have suggestions of builds, or at least specific minimums I should ensure?
